The Chord Of E Minor
The minor chords are often known as the ‘mood’ chords, because they carry a sad, resonant sound, as opposed to the bright or more forceful sound of a major chord.
Probably one of the easiest chords to fret is the chord of E Minor. E Minor also works well with C Major, F Major and G Major.
E Minor is so easy it only requires 2 fingers. Here is how you fret it:
- Place the index finger behind the 2nd fret of the 5th String (A)
- Place the middle finger behind the 2nd fret of the 4th String (D)
Strum this chord and notice the slightly sombre sound. This chord can be played with the major chords of C, F and G, which you already know if you have been following these lessons.
